Oligosaccharides production by enzymatic hydrolysis of banana pseudostem pulp

چکیده

Abstract Banana production generates significant amounts of agricultural wastes, being fiber extraction one the most relevant alternatives for their valorization. This process produces banana’s pseudostem pulp (BPP) as a byproduct, which shows an interesting composition biorefinery’s biochemical platform, with high polysaccharides (68%) and low lignin contents. work deals enzymatic hydrolysis (EH) raw hydrothermally pre-treated BPP, focusing on oligosaccharides (OS). Raw BPP cellulase at different dosages rendered only 3.2% OS yields (OSY). Pectinase addition has not affected EH performance. On other hand, 150 °C 170 (P150 P170) allowed to increase OSY up 28% (P150, 1 FPU cellulase/g dry biomass, 12 h), 72% solubilized sugars in form cello-oligosaccharides. last condition was subjected multi-stage strategy without improvements OSY. An endo-glucanase also tested, but obtained were lower than results. Finally, demonstrated stimulate growth two Lactobacilli strains. The results show that under mild operational conditions is good candidate cello-oligosaccharides by using FPU/g DB simple strategy. Graphical abstract

Enzymatic hydrolysis of potato pulp.

BACKGROUND Potato pulp constitutes a complicated system of four types of polysaccharides: cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin and starch. Its composition makes it a potential and attractive raw material for the production of the second generation bioethanol. The aim of this research project was to assess the usefulness of commercial enzymatic preparations for the hydrolysis of potato pulp and to e...

Enhancing Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Cellulose by Ultrasonic Pretreatment

Slurries of rice-straw cellulose (obtained by delignification and removal of hemicelluloses from the powdered raw material) were subjected to ultrasonic waves at different intensities for various times (constant temperature). Susceptibility of the samples to cellulose-hydrolysis increased initially with pretreatment time, reaching a maximum or a constant level thereafter. Maximum glucose yi...

Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Alginate to Produce Oligosaccharides by a New Purified Endo-Type Alginate Lyase

Enzymatic hydrolysis of sodium alginate to produce alginate oligosaccharides has drawn increasing attention due to its advantages of containing a wild reaction condition, excellent gel properties and specific products easy for purification. However, the efficient commercial enzyme tools are rarely available. A new alginate lyase with high activity (24,038 U/mg) has been purified from a newly is...

Optimization of Enzymatic Synthesis of Isomalto-oligosaccharides Production

Glucosyltransferases can be applied in the synthesis of prebiotic oligosaccharides. Enzymatic synthesis using acceptors can be used to obtain these carbohydrates. When maltose is the acceptor, oligosaccharides containing one maltose moiety and up to eight glucose units linked by a-1,6glycosidic bonds are obtained as the product of dextransucrase acceptor reaction. In this work, the enzymatic sy...

Enzymatic synthesis of oligosaccharides

The biological interest of oligosaccharides is growing very rapidly, and necessitates the development of efficient synthesis reactions. The stereoand regio-selectivity of enzyme catalysis is a key advantage in this field, as a complementary tool to the chemical approach. Two types of enzymes can be applied to the obtention of oligosaccharides: Hydrolytic enzymes, which can catalyze either rever...
